KidCo G32 Wood Safeway Angle Mount Gate

As for so many others who purchase this gate, the arrangement at the top of our stairs does not allow for a gate to be stalled perpendicular to the walls. We needed one that could be angled. There are not too many gates that make this claim, and this one seemed to be the best of the bunch.

After spending a solid five hours installing this product (including some time paring down the newel post in order to prevent the gate from hitting it), here is what I think:

1) The gate and hardware are of good quality. I think they should include additional screws and anchors (not everyone will be mounting on wood exclusively), but that is a minor gripe.

2) Despite what other say, I think that the instructions are sufficient. You must examine the illustrations and read the directions carefully, but they are not particularly difficult to understand, and seem accurate to me.

3) The installation is clearly intended for one who is handy, good with details, precise, and patient. You must plan carefully and measure exactly for the gate to function smoothly. You will need to use your head and some creativity to make sure everything fits in place properly. Frankly, they make it harder than it has to be. They could make it easier by making all of the wall-mounted hardware with "sliding holes" so that the pieces can be adjusted even after they are screwed on. The way it is now, if your hole in the wall is several millimeter off, you are in trouble as there is zero wiggle room.

4) Even when installed perfectly, the gate is not exactly a "dream" to operate (it's got a good amount of play, more than I would like), but it works fine with practice and is certainly secure when locked.
