I have made several gates with this kit and really like them. I have done them with cedar fence pickets and also with 2" x 4" net wire as a filler and they look great and function well. My only suggestion would be to make them just a little bit heavier gauge as there always seems to be a slightly bent piece in the kit. The gates are super easy to build, nice product, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
