This is our second gate like this. We only needed one in our old house but we now have one at the top and at the bottom of our staircase. They are simple in design but honestly look just fine for a baby gate... our older daughter (5.5) can open and close with no problem while keeping our very busy 13 month old safe and away from her beloved staircase... installation was pretty easy with some ingenuity on how to mount the bottom one to the narrow spindles on our banister. (Hooray for zip ties!). We also liked that this one screws into the wall. The tension mount ones on a staircase just make me nervous with 2 active kids. Shipping was excellent too. It arrived a day early...on a holiday weekend no less!
